The Mechanic position is an essential position within the Maintenance Department. The individual must be able to successfully demonstrate hands-on aptitude as listed below. Candidate must be willing and able to respond to emergency situations such as call-ins to the plant at any time, i.e. weekends, nights, holidays. Must be able to respond to emergency calls and return to the plant within 30 minutes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Understands and utilizes all safe work procedures and practices.
Performs soldering, brazing, welding, acetylene cutting and plasma cutting, basic equipment rebuilds, basic carpentry, precision measuring, basic piping, equipment moves, and rigging.
Understands and operates shop equipment.
Understands the repair and operation of lift trucks and other mobile equipment.
Performs work from work orders, drawings, sketches, or verbal instructions.
Plans, lays out and performs basic mechanical operations in maintaining and repairing the facilities and equipment.
Maintains records as directed.
Performs other miscellaneous duties as directed by the supervisor.
Maintains a proactive and professional attitude.
Performs quality work and focuses on continuous improvement.
Maintains spare parts.
Job Description - Mechanic II
Performs all elements of the Mechanic I.
Performs all aspects of field welding, machining, equipment alignment, major job installations.
Performs, understands and recommends preventative and predictive maintenance.
Reads and understands blueprints and schematics.
Consistently troubleshoots equipment failures and identifies the root cause of the failures.
Understands and performs maintenance and project work on all plant facilities and equipment.
Trains others as needed.
Maintains the Fire Prevention System.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the position to include, but not limited to working from ladders and scaffolds.
- Must know ISO procedures relating to job and follow said procedures.
- Must undergo training leading up to qualification as Mechanic II. Job qualification to be determined by administration of testing by a union/management Team.
- Must be willing to take additional training to upgrade knowledge of current technology when determined by Company.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics
- Ability to perform basic math including unit conversions.
- Ability to work safely using proper PPE
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively and efficiently
- Possess a basic understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, piping steam and power transmission systems.
- Ability to arc and mig weld carbon steel.
- Ability to safely apply rigging skills to move equipment
- Ability to install basic equipment such as pumps.
- Ability to operate power tools
- Ability to operate the maintenance shop equipment such as drills, saws, sanders, etc.
- Must be qualified to operate forklift truck properly and safely.
- Others duties as assigned.
- Must be able to perform Mechanic I job requirements (see below) and have the aptitude to progress to skills required for Mechanic II (see below)
