culturally sensitive healthcare services for over 50 years. Monterey Park Hospital is recruiting for a Lab Coordinator Pathology for our Clinical Laboratory Department. This position is temporary, full time, 8 hour,
days. This position reports to the Clinical Lab Director.
Responsibilities :
The Laboratory Coordinator Pathology responsibilities include accurately transcribing pathology dictation using electronic dictation equipment timely, accurately inputs pathology information into the laboratory information system and CPSI, accurately transcribes patient information to all reports, ensures all pathology dictation has been properly signed out, is always attentive to record keeping and ensuring appropriate reports are sent timely to physicians offices. Receives specimen slides for microscopic examination, prepares specimen slides including frozen sections for Pathologist review for two hospitals. Administrative duties include billing, coding, completes monthly review of various Pathology reports and logs, manages the organization, filing and storage of pathology reports, maintains the archives of the Pathology Department, participates in orienting and training new laboratory staff including Pathologists. Supports the Clinical Lab by performing proper phlebotomy techniques when needed, responds to inquiries, processes equipment supplies received in the department, uses equipment and supplies properly. The Laboratory Coordinator - Pathology must be able to organize the workload to work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced environment and prioritize duties for routine and stat testing. The Laboratory Coordinator Pathology must be able to maintain customer service standards and work independently. Demonstrates good judgement and decision-making. Other duties as assigned to this position.
Qualifications :
Education / Experience : 1 year transcription experience required and 6 months phlebotomy experience
in a hospital laboratory setting preferred.
License / Certifications : Current California Phlebotomy Technician Certification required. BLS required.
Other : Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology required and laboratory medical terminology
preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with clinical nursing staff and physicians required.
Experience with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace products preferred.
