Our team is leveraging cutting-edge emerging technologies to develop the next-generation software core for Ahold Delhaize USA's eCommerce and order fulfillment platforms. In this role, you'll focus on telemetry, logging, tracing, and monitoring, working closely with platform and product engineering teams to enhance our observability platform. Together, we ensure unified monitoring across thousands of Azure cloud and on-premises hosts and services. Join us as we advance our mission to make all applications and services fully observable.
Our flexible/hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at either our Chicago, IL or Quincy, MA office and 2 remote days. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities
- Serve as a key contributor to the implementation and optimization of observability platform and collaborate with engineers to effectively leverage Datadog.
- Support the development of a monitoring platform that identifies issues and anomalies in mission-critical systems with improved relevance and accuracy.
- Assist in defining and adopting observability standards and best practices, working towards their consistent application across the engineering organization.
- Support efforts to enhance the reliability and availability of critical systems while helping identify and address potential points of failure.
- Work closely with platform and product teams, providing technical guidance and support as needed.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 4 years of professional experience in software engineering or systems engineering.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Datadog, Azure Monitor, and Splunk.
- Hands-on expertise in metrics, logging, tracing, profiling, alerting, and visualization.
- Practical experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and Monitoring-as-Code practices.
- Strong working knowledge of the Azure Cloud platform and Azure DevOps pipelines.
- Proficiency in one or more scripting languages.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills, enabling you to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
