Position Summary:
This position is responsible for the quality assurance of new model components and products, manufacturing process quality, supplier quality, supporting quality system management, and new model customer problem/complaint resolution. Highly technical and statistical role to design, define, develop, track, and report, on the New Model quality assurance/development processes.
Scope of Responsibilities:
NPAP-Quality Engineer is responsible for leading new product development projects and continuous improvement activities of new model launches based on previous MP products. Utilizing quality techniques and practices, the NPAP-Quality Engineer will partner with and/or lead Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, and other Quality personnel on quality issues and analysis, corrective actions, and quality system improvements for new model launches. This is a hands-on position that focuses on new projects with extensive interaction with other disciplines within the organization. Collect and provide accurate, easy to understand reporting of dimensional and visual inspection results to the production, engineering, and maintenance departments, as well as customers and Ahresty management staff. Long term trends, accuracy of data, and measurement method selection is critical.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support in the investigation and resolution of new model manufacturing, design, and/or customer quality issues. Lead and support the evaluation and investigation of new model product complaints and development and execution of corrective action.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures relating to quality, process development, manufacturing, and QSR/ISO compliance by establishing procedures and quality plans for achieving reliability in accordance with specification and procedures.
- Participate and lead as needed in Risk Management activities
- Trial and/or long term dimensional trend analysis and reporting (run charts, take action limits, etc.)
- SPC software setup, administration, and utilization
- Coordinates with the MP QI department and APQ team members for development of new model inspection plans, work instructions, and inspection processes
- Coordinates with the MP QI department and APQ team members for Gage R&R, correlation, and capability studies
- Can support in CMM programming, standardization, training, and at times operating the CMM
- Coordinates with the MP QI department and APQ team members for new model Design, and sourcing, of quality fixtures, gauges, and new technology related to new model products
- Coordinates with the MP QI department and APQ team members for budgeting and resource planning for new model quality assurance processes
- Develop and implement training to quality department associates related to new models as they relate to above tasks
Education/Experience/Training (minimum required):
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific or statistical related field (BSMET, Engineering, Mathematics, etc.).
- Preferred Experience:
- Automotive manufacturing.
- High pressure die casting and mass production machining processes
- ISO or IATF16949
- GD&T
- Working knowledge in a quality role including data analysis and charting
- Lab inspection equipment (CMM, laser, Contrace, LVDT, etc.)
- CAD systems is a bonus.
- Good written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong knowledge and use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Good organizational Skills
