Title:
Process Engineering Tech I DE- Reports directly to the Die Casting Engineering Manager. A Process Engineer I, II, or III may oversee Process Engineering Tech I on specific assignments/projects.

Position Summary:
Supports die casting operations by maintaining auxiliary equipment in satisfactory operating condition. Supports die casting operations by monitoring inventory for consumable supplies and places orders as needed. Supports Die Cast Engineering by assisting with trials and trial evaluations.
Scope of Responsibilities:
Performs basic maintenance on atomizers, spray cassettes, GF valves, tips and sleeves, and jet cooling units. Tracks inventory and usage of aforementioned consumables (GF valve components and tips/sleeves) and places orders to support production. Tracks inventory and usage of die lube concentrate and places orders to support production. Confirms die lube ratios are being maintained to standard. Understands basic casting processes with the ability to conduct die changes, assist with casting trials, and performing casting trial evaluations. Participates in determining manufacturing process improvements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Analyzes high usage of consumables supplies and assists the Process Engineer (I, II, & III) in determining the appropriate root cause and countermeasures to reduce usage.
- Prepares and trains operation’s personnel on established maintenance standards for atomizers, spray cassettes, GF valves, tips and sleeves, and jet cool units.
- Participates in the development and implementation of improvement plans that target reductions in manufacturing operational costs.
- May assist Process Engineer (I, II, & III level) with castings trials for replacement dies or new model dies.
- May assist Process Engineer (I, II, & III level) in the design, layout, and implementation of new manufacturing operations within die casting.
- May assist Process Engineer (I, II, & III level) and on some occasions works independently in the analysis and modification of current manufacturing operations including design modification of auxiliary equipment.
- Closes all assigned project gaps, Controlled Document Change Requests, Change Notification Evaluation Reports, etc. prior to transfer of part responsibility.
- Improvement Activities:
- Applies Deming principles and other root cause analysis tools when analyzing problems within the associate's department and makes appropriate recommendations for improvements.
- May participate in Quality Circle improvement teams when possible.
- Performs other related improvement functions as assigned
Education/Experience/Training (minimum required):
- Must be hands on with high mechanical ability.
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have good computer skills in developing reports using basic spreadsheets and graphs as well as word processing.
- This is a 3rd shift position - with the understanding that the associate will be working 1st shift through training but eventually will transition to 3rd shift after roughly 6 months
