What are the responsibilities and job description for the PTA- Physical Therapy Assistant (licensed) PRN position at AHS - Sherman Medical Center?
JOB SUMMARY : Under general technical supervision of a licensed Therapist or Assistant, and the Administrative supervision of the clinical Supervisor and Director or Therapy Services, the Physical Therapy Assistant carries out treatment protocols established by the Physical Therapist to improve and maximize patient mobility and independent functioning within their physical limitation and disabilities. Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist and carries out assigned duties as delegated.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1.Graduate of a certified program for P. T.A
2.Previous experience in hospital or nesting home patient care.
3.CPR / BLS required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Performs treatment under direction of PT.
2.Responsible for applicable procedures re : Therapy.
3.Trains patient in exercise / program activities.
4.Follows PT and physicians orders.
5.Applies principles of infection control.
6.Reports changes in patient conditions to Physical Therapist.
7.Organizes patient care and general department activities.
8.Complies with procedure for maintenance of supplies and equipment.
9.Practices appropriate safety measures with patients.
10.Communicates observations, facts, etc with supervisor therapist.
11.Maintains professional level of conduct at all times.
12.Participates in in-service programs and other activities.
13.Adheres to all hospital and department and other activities.
14.Works well with co-workers, physicians and staff.
15.Performs other duties as assigned.
