AHSTW Community School District is currently accepting applications for the positions of High School Band Instructor for the 2025-2026 school year.
Purpose Statement:
· The position of Elementary Music instructor has been established to introduce and encourage our students to participate in musical activities through their educational career and beyond.
Qualifications:
· 145 5-12 Music
* High School Band
Length of Service:
· The number of work days are established by the Master agreement [189 days] and completed upon the design of our school calendar.
Supervisor and Evaluation:
· Under the general supervision of the building principal.
· In accordance with state code, Iowa Teaching Standards and local performance criteria.
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
- Develops and administers approved curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives to promote learning in general music.
· Facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through daily instruction and modeling.
· Develops lesson plans and instructional materials to implement positive learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction.
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and encourages individualized, small group instruction, and large group instruction.
· Providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations and goals.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
- Continues to engage in professional development activities such as attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings to acquire knowledge to enhance student learning.
- Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
- Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Ensures student conduct meets the expectations of our school's standards and school district policies to ensure a positive learning environment for all students.
- Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level and department, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
- Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal and other central office administrators as designated by the superintendent.

- Knowledge of current teaching methods, as well as the ability to differentiate instruction based upon student needs.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.

- Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth.
Qualifications Profile:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Iowa Teaching License with a 5-12 Music Endorsement.
- Knowledge of and experience using music technology.
Physical Requirements:
· Physical requirements vary by individual job assignment but requires a minimum of the following physical requirements: Walking, standing, bending, carrying, climbing, lifting minimum of 20 pounds, driving, pushing, pulling, reaching, sitting, and kneeling.
