Job Description:
Elementary Classroom Teacher
Purpose Statement:
- The position of elementary classroom teacher has been established to assist our students as they grow their abilities and understanding in the of the reading, math, English, science, and social studies, along with interpersonal skills.
Licensure:
- 102: K-6 Elementary Classroom
Length of Service:
- The number of workdays are established by the Master agreement [189 days] and completed upon the design of our school calendar.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide high quality programming and services in accordance the Iowa Teaching standards.
- Enhance classroom expectations through an effective classroom management system to enhance the learning environment for students.
- Expose students to a content rich enrichment environment throughout the day
- Follow learning outcomes and indicators outlined by the district
- Ability to adapt and deliver programming to meet the diverse developmental needs of each child.
- Work collaboratively with district staff using developmentally appropriate practices, learning centers, and both individual and small group instruction.
- Monitor student growth using standards-based grading.
- Work with a team to ensure ongoing assessment of program and individual child progress.
- Provide supervision and direction to the activities of non-certified staff and volunteers working with children.
- Administer district’s curriculum supports and follow learning standards and benchmarks.
- Must hold a Mandatory Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Reporter Certificate prior to start data and remain current.
- Successful candidate must be willing to support our district initiatives including: (1) Using formative assessments to guide instruction and provide feedback to students, parents, building and district staff, (2) Participating in the Collaborative Teacher Teams (PLC) model, (3) Social Emotional Learning (4) Planning, Monitoring and/or Implementing Tier II and Tier III interventions
- Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with the ability to build rapport with each student.
- Attendance and punctuality are a vital to ensuring consistency for our students’ learning and the overall responsibilities of the position.
- Implementation of AHSTW’s multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics.
- Design and implement an appropriate individual education plan for students, as needed.
- Other Duties as appropriate and assigned by the principal.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to collaborate with staff, and parents to create the best learning opportunity for students
- Proficiency in oral and written communication
- Knowledge and expertise in content and learning strategies at the middle school level
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Effective decision-making skills
- Able to maintain appropriate academic and evaluation records
Physical Requirements:
- Successful candidates must have the ability to meet the needs of students in a safe manner. Needs of the position may include significant walking, bending, and standing to assist students in their daily needs.
