Bridge Inspection, Evaluation, Analysis, and Design is the core expertise of the firm, earning a national reputation for serving DOT’s / bridge owners on major projects in over 20 states throughout the U.S. Since 2016, the company has embarked on the adaptation of New Technology in inspecting, evaluating, and designing bridges. This includes Drone Inspections, laser scanning and point-cloud mapping of large, complex structures, and the procurement and installation of sophisticated wireless (5G) bridge movement and monitoring devices. SURVEY CAD TECHNICIAN I - MIDDLETOWN, CT
AI Engineers is seeking a skilled and highly motivated CAD Technician to support new and ongoing projects in our Survey & Technology department. A minimum of 2 years’ experience is desired. The ideal candidates will possess knowledge of one or more of the following surveying software: AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley/MicroStation OpenRoads Designer, and/or TopoDOT. Additionally, experience with point cloud processing is a significant advantage. Strong communication skills, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality are required for this opportunity.
Responsibilities:
Desired candidates should have experience in a few of the following areas:
- Boundary and topographic surveys, bridge and road surveys.
- Civil/Site Engineering
- Heavy/Highway Construction
- Processing and analysis of collected survey data utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer, and TopoDOT. Desire and willingness to learn is key.
- Processing and analysis of point clouds from 3D scans and photogrammetry is a plus.
- Generation of 2D maps and 3D models from survey/scan data.
Desired candidates should be able to:
- Collaborate closely with other team members, including engineers, architects, and construction professionals.
- Develop record drawings using compiled field and office data.
- Have a basic understanding of construction documents.
- Conform and adapt to multiple CAD standards in different environments for different clients.
Qualifications:
Desired candidates should have the following qualifications:
- Completion of technical trade school in CAD or a related field is preferred. Candidates with equivalent on the job training will also be considered.
- At least 2 years of progressive experience in CAD for Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, 3D Scanning or related work.
- Basic to Intermediate level of understanding or experience in Field Surveying Practices.
- Desire to become proficient in surveying software, including Carlson Survey, AutoCAD Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer, and TopoDOT.
- Problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities.
- Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, Certified Survey Technician (CST Level I) or related fields are desired but not required.
