About The Position

The Gas Standards & Procedures team is responsible for ongoing maintenance and support of the Operating and Maintenance (O&M) Plan, materials engineering, materials quality, and new product evaluation. This engineer will have opportunities to support internal discussion regarding operational or design issues associated with the O&M language, stock coded items, and tools/equipment. This engineer will also have opportunities to communicate with manufacturers, suppliers, and other contract resources. The Gas Standards & Procedures engineer may also have challenging opportunities to evaluate new products, tools, or equipment that impact various areas of operation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop a full understanding of Operating and Maintenance (O&M) procedures/standard designs and the associated pipeline safety regulation to be recognized as a subject matter expert in support of gas operations.
  • Support the Management of Change activities related to the O&M Plan updates. This includes attending Subject Matter Resource Team discussions, providing recommendations on suggested language, researching, and providing solutions to issues, and reviewing final updates for quality and accuracy.
  • Provide compliance engineering support for the Ameren Illinois Quality Assurance program.
  • Create and maintain material specifications based on industry standards.
  • Maintain the stock coded materials database. This will include creating new stock codes, modifying existing stock codes, and canceling expired stock codes. Effort includes coordination with manufacturer, supplier, sourcing, procurement, stores, engineering, and operations.
  • Assist the Material Quality team to resolve material quality issues by working through non-conformance reporting, identifying root cause, and establishing corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on continuous improvement projects.
  • Support the Gas Standards, Tools, and Equipment Committee by processing and validating the implementation of new material and tools. Create recommendations based on research and engineering principles on process improvements to leadership.
  • Coordinate with Ameren Missouri on changes to materials, procedures, or suppliers.
  • Attend industry events and report back to the organization on best practices, upcoming issues, and new products.
  • Inspect material and documentation (Mill Test Records (MTRs), Certificate of Compliance (CoC), etc.) for quality and conformance. This may involve traveling to job sites within our service territory.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university required. Relevant gas engineering, gas operations, metallurgy, or quality experience preferred. Professional Engineering License preferred or the ability to obtain one.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

A thorough understanding of the gas operations procedures and standard designs contained in the Ameren Operating and Maintenance Plan preferred. Working knowledge of CFR 49 Part 191, 192, and 199; NFPA 54 National Fuel Gas Code, industry related standards (ASME, ASTM, API 1104) and Illinois Administrative Code preferred. Good communication, organizational, analytical, presentation, and interpersonal skills required. Should be familiar with related technology (i.e. Microsoft Office, EMPRV, Product Data Hub, Maximo, Click Mobile, AMV, SharePoint). Must have proficient writing skills. Good communication, organizational, analytical, presentation, and interpersonal skills; Ability to work successfully across multiple groups; and the following Ameren competencies: Think Customer, Inspire and Engage, Foster Innovation, Drive Results, Champion Learning, Build Trust, and Be Strategic.

Compensation Range:

$69,300.00 - $168,000.00

* This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant's credentials.

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
