EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position location: Pocatello, Idaho
Overview:
The Aid For Friends Board of Directors is seeking an experienced, committed leader that possesses the desire and passion to guide the organization to new levels of assistance for those it serves. The candidate needs a balance of vision and fiscal responsibility that will ensure sustainability and growth for Aid For Friends. Communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for a successful candidate.
Aid For Friends is a small organization with a big heart and even bigger impact in our community. As the only emergency shelter in the region, Aid For Friends provides essential services for nontargeted populations experiencing or facing homelessness. In addition to our emergency shelter, we also provide our clients with case management services to support self-sufficiency, a permanent supportive housing program, and a host of other community services. With completion of a new shelter in 2021, Aid For Friends doubled their shelter capacity, offering more appropriate living quarters for men, women, and families, access to computers, community meals and improved opportunities for volunteers and community connection. Aid For Friends works with local governments, businesses, and other non-profit organizations, to maintain and build sustainable relationships and collaborate within our community to provide the best possible outcomes for our clients.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Assume responsibility for successful performance of all aspects of Aid For Friends operations. These areas include:
- Financial Management – Oversee all financial matters including expenditures, budget, reporting, payroll,
AP, AR, audits, fundraisers, etc. Expertise in successful grant writing. Looks for ways to enhance overall financial position.
- Organizational Management – Oversee programs, client relations, grievances, expansion of services, and accessibility of services.
- Personnel Management – Oversee staffing, employee development, adherence to policies and procedures, and workplace culture.
- Community Relations Management – Oversee the community image, relationships with outside parties, promotion of the agency, and all other community involvement efforts. Acts as an agency advocate through the service area.
- Primary point of contact for agency’s board of directors. Plans regular meetings, ensures pertinent information is discussed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the board of directors
Qualifications and Skills:
- Demonstrated commitment to assisting the community
- Excellent organizational skills
- Experience connecting to community partners
- At least 5 years of experience in aspects of non-profit management including finances, personnel, and community relations.
- Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
- Able to pass criminal history and background check
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Proficient in a variety of computer software programs including MS Word, MS Excel, email, etc.

Work Environment:
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level.

Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
Compensation and Benefits:
Starting salary is dependent upon relevant experience. We offer a full benefits package.
