Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Laboratory Director to lead our microbiology laboratory operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in laboratory management and a comprehensive understanding of various laboratory techniques. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and maintaining the highest quality of laboratory services. The Laboratory Director will oversee all laboratory functions, manage staff, and ensure that all testing is performed accurately and efficiently.
Duties
- Oversee daily operations of the clinical laboratory, ensuring compliance with GLP and EPA standards.
- Manage laboratory personnel, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Analyze and prepare various environmental samples for Legionella, MRSA, VRE, Salmonella, C diff., Staphylococcus
- Water testing of bacteria using Idexx test kits
- Lead staff in identification of bacteria using standard microbiological tests such as gram stain, catalase, oxidase tests
- Develop and implement laboratory protocols and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy in testing.
- Ensure proper maintenance of laboratory equipment and facilities.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to safety regulations and quality control measures.
- Collaborate with other departments to facilitate research projects and clinical studies.
- Stay updated on advancements in laboratory techniques, including RNA extraction, DNA isolation, cell culture, ELISA, and biochemistry.
- Provide technical guidance on microbiology practices and aseptic techniques.
Requirements
- A Master's degree or higher in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Clinical Laboratory Science, Microbiology).
- Extensive experience in a clinical laboratory setting with a focus on microbiology.
- Strong knowledge of GLP, CGMP regulations, and quality assurance practices.
- Proficiency in advanced laboratory techniques such as RNA extraction, DNA isolation, cell culture, ELISA, and biochemistry.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in testing processes.
- Exceptional communication skills for collaboration with staff and other departments.
