Position Title: Work-Based Learning Coordinator

SUMMARY:
The Work-Based Learning (WBL) Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing high-quality work-based learning experiences that promote career readiness and real-world application of academic and technical skills for students across Aiken County Public Schools. This position supports career readiness through co-ops, internships, apprenticeships, and internal WBL opportunities, and works closely with business partners, teachers, counselors, and students to enhance awareness, access, and success in career pathways.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and manage WBL programs including inte rnships, apprenticeships, job shadowing, career readiness co-ops, and internal school-based enterprise opportunities.
- Establish and sustain strong partnerships with local businesses, industries, and community organizations to create robust WBL opportunities.
- Collaborate with teachers, school counselors, and administrators to integrate WBL into student career development and curriculum planning.
- Increase teacher awareness of local and regional career opportunities and workforce trends to enhance classroom-to-career connections.
- Facilitate student placement in WBL experiences aligned with career interests and career and technical education (CTE) pathways.
- Oversee the WBL data entry process in PowerSchool to ensure accuracy and adherence to?state accountability standards.
- Provide professional development and resources to teachers and counselors on WBL strategies and career readiness standards.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of WBL placements and student outcomes using data-driven practices.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including safety, labor laws, and documentation requirements for student placements.
- Promote equity in WBL opportunities to ensure all students, including those from underrepresented groups, have access to career development experiences.
- Lead outreach and communication efforts to highlight WBL success stories and engage stakeholders in career development initiatives.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Related work experience in a similar role.
- Experience in education, workforce development, or business/industry partnerships.
- Strong knowledge of career readiness frameworks, including SC Career Clusters, Perkins V, and WBL guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain partnerships with community, industry, and educational stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and schools.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid SC Teaching License or appropriate licensure preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write and/or type routine reports and correspondences. Ability to speak effectively before groups of district personnel or organizations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Application of percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations is required. Ability to draw and interpret graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to interpret and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems. Ability to quickly assess employee, departmental, and administrative needs and provide timely feedback.

Must be able to travel within Aiken County and occasionally beyond for business engagement and WBL opportunities. Office and school-based settings with occasional visits to business/industry sites. Some evening or weekend work may be required for events or partnership meetings.
