Position Title: Courier Service Driver
Department: Maintenance and Operations
Reports To: Director of Maintenance and Operations
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY:
Provides an efficient and timely flow of inter-office correspondence for the Aiken County Public School System.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Collects and distributes correspondence (documents, requisitions, letters, etc.) from the District Office Distribution Center, Purchasing Department, Material Center, Area Offices and schools.
- Inspects courier vehicle for safety to ensure it is in satisfactory driving condition daily. If a mechanical problem exists, driver is responsible for notifying appropriate maintenance personnel.
- Drives a company vehicle to perform job duties to any location within the District.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Must be at least 18 years old. High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
SUPERVISORY RESPODSIBILITIES:
None
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to interpret and apply commons sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems. Ability solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in a situation where only limited standardization exists.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
A good driving record is necessary. Experience working as a driver is preferred. Written and hands-on testing is required. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
