JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
Efficiently receive, store, and manage materials and supplies while supporting overall logistics and inventory processes. Provide assistance to the Engineering Services Supervisor (Staking) and support crews during after-hours outages.
Essential Functions

- Maintain and store materials and supplies to ensure operational efficiency and a safe work environment.
- Operate a forklift safely and efficiently to load, unload, and transport materials, ensuring proper stacking and organization to prevent damage and accidents.
- Process and distribute work orders, issue materials, and store inventory for construction and maintenance crews; deliver materials to field crews as needed.
- Receive materials, complete appropriate records, return unused items to stock, inventory partial reels of wire, and handle the return of faulty or damaged transformers.
- Keep the warehouse neat, clean, and organized; monitor scrap bins and coordinate vendor pickups; maintain the laydown yard by removing debris, mowing grass, etc.
- Coordinate with plumbing contractors and issue water heaters for the H₂O program, maintaining accurate records.
- Maintain records of issued and returned materials, as well as transfers between cooperative facilities.
- Assist staking operations by preparing staking sheets, updating mapping systems, entering staking information, reconciling field changes, scheduling member appointments, assigning map references on service orders, and maintaining records related to staking, reject poles, and joint-use attachments.
- Secure routine right-of-way/easement permissions as needed.
- Provide field service assistance and perform related duties as required.
- Assist with routine maintenance of custodial equipment, facilities, and grounds as needed.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies while promoting workplace safety and environmental best practices.
- Support line crews by assisting with after-hour trouble calls and participating in the on-call rotation.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; explosives. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Works around trenchers, line trucks, live wires, oils spills and clean up, pole top rescue, etc. This role occasionally uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The employee will be required to walk or stand, use hands, fingers to handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Travel
Periodic travel to state and local destinations, as well as some interstate travel is required.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Associate degree or equivalent from technical school and three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
- Three years or more working with utility materials and supplies.
- Current knowledge of RUS specifications, electrical regulations and codes.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Hold a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or obtain one within six months of employment.
- Certified in First Aid, CPR, Flagger safety, and Bucket Rescue.
- Must reside within 25 miles of the District area office.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
