Title: Public Health Preparedness Field Coordinator
Duration: 12 Months Contract with an extension
Location: Remote w/travel w/in district 7 for meetings and assistance.
District 1 Coverage: (Applicant must be from District 1, Indiana)
Includes East Chicago, Gary, Jasper, Lake, LaPorte, Porter, and Newton counties, with close collaboration with the Chicago Metropolitan Statistical Area Health Departments.
Overview:
The District Coordinator serves as the main contact for Local Health Departments within their assigned district, supporting emergency preparedness efforts led by the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH).
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify preparedness gaps in local health departments and provide resources to address them.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Coalition Coordinators to strengthen partnerships between public health and healthcare providers.
- Report district needs, challenges, and progress to Regional Supervisors.
- Attend meetings, training sessions, and preparedness exercises to support local departments.
- Track grant deliverables, collect data, and assist with Medical Countermeasure (MCM) readiness reviews.
- Maintain and share guidance documents and preparedness plans with local partners.
- Ensure local health departments understand emergency preparedness strategies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Experience in emergency preparedness, public health, or public safety.
- Strong communication, organizational, and meeting facilitation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and grant management.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (relevant experience may substitute).
Skills Needed:
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt to changing needs.
- Experience supporting training, planning, and coordination efforts.
