Description
The Outside Sales Rep is a key member of the sales team. Developing and growing sales is the primary duty of this position. This position will be responsible for prospecting and qualifying new customers, resulting in increased revenue and pipeline activity. The ability to travel 30%-50% is required. General construction knowledge, specific technical application procedures, industry knowledge, and technical product knowledge will be essential for success.
Essential duties:
- Visit existing and prospective customers
- Identify indirect sales opportunities, potential markets, and partners to generate sales
- Develop targeted and focused marketing campaigns on specific niche markets in your given territory
- Utilize web-based tools to track projects to create new sales
- Create work proposals
- Update customer/prospect/lead database with outreach activities and new contacts
- Manage sales goals within the tracking system.
- Represent the organization in community or industry groups and programs.
- Assist in customer collections
- Assist team in proposal drafts and submittals.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Strong client advocacy, skilled trade and construction knowledge, client management skills, networking ability, and effective communication skills
- Skillfully handle deadlines, high volume workload and constant change
- Knowledge of Salesforce a must
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Proactive in nature and focus on results/accomplishments.
- Work independently but also work as a team to help others succeed
- Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to develop and implement sales programs and protocols
- Must have a valid driver’s license and insurance and meet company insurability requirements
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Strong computer skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office with emphasis on Excel.
Preferred qualifications:
- 3-5 years experience as a sales rep or equivalent working in technical, trade, construction or CDL industry
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills and attention to detail.
Travel:
- 30 - 50% travel to branch locations and customer work sites.
Working conditions:
- This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Work is usually performed in an office environment and will include national travel. Meetings at outdoor worksites required. Occasional exposure to outdoor elements may include weather, noise, and odors. Tasks may require the ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 10 lbs, walk, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, and stand.
