Ainsley Search Group is seeking a Purchasing Manager for a Global Manufacturer located in Chester County. This individual will lead a purchasing team to oversee the daily procurement of direct materials and indirect materials. He/she will manage a portfolio of suppliers, improve supplier performance, develop and improve purchasing processes based on manufacturing needs and implement process improvement to achieve cost reduction.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a purchasing team and oversee the purchasing of engineered components, indirect materials based on materials availability, production capacity and customer demand.
- Work closely with Sales, Operations, Engineering and Maintenance to optimize procurement goals based on sales volume, project lead times and inventory availability.
- Set procurement guidelines for purchase order process, collaborate with planning department to optimize materials flow based on materials availability.
- Based on market price, demand trend, customer projects, capacity and materials level to determine purchasing strategy, determine what to buy and when to buy based on overall supplier performance and logistics.
- Responsible for annual spending of direct materials, oversee tactical purchasing process and initiate strategic procurement initiatives to improve procurement process.
- Manages a portfolio of suppliers, manages supplier performance and quality using KPI, metrics, support supplier audits and report to senior management concerning supplier performance, maintain and develop supplier relations.
- Manage supplier contracts, execute supplier contracts and recommend new suppliers as needed; review and manage purchasing contract, support customers’ contracts.
- Monitor supplier’s scorecard and drive improvement on performance regarding backorder ratio, lead-time, quality, compliance, fill rate, etc.; implement continuous improvement process to improve supplier performance and hold suppliers accountable for delayed deliveries and quality issues.
- Analyze data regarding suppliers, materials, inventory turns, production and demand versus buys and achieve cost saving goals; conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective action to streamline purchasing process, further achieve cost saving and higher efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Business, Supply Chain or related.
- 5 years of experience in Procurement within a Manufacturing environment, experience in purchasing high volume, high mixed materials.
- Solid tenure as Hands-on leader, ability to lead and motivate people.
- Experience managing suppliers and improving supplier performance and quality, experience with international and domestic business, exposure to defense industry is a plus.
- Solid knowledge in ERP and Excel system.
