Responsibilities:
Provide strategic counsel on estate planning, including wills, trusts, asset protection, and minimizing tax liabilities during wealth transfers Develop sophisticated estate plans using advanced wealth transfer techniques, including GRATs, CRUTs, sales to IDGTs, and Dynasty Trusts Manage trust and estate administration, including probate proceedings, fiduciary representation, and sub-trust funding Prepare and review Forms 709 and 706 for gift and estate tax transactions, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations Advise clients on charitable planning and establishing private foundations for tax-effective giving Collaborate with financial advisors, tax professionals, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive estate plans Represent clients in trust and estate disputes, including drafting petitions, responses, and participating in mediations and trials Stay up-to-date on changing tax laws and regulations impacting estate planning and wealth transfer strategies
Qualifications:
At least 5 years of experience in trusts and estates law, with a focus on high-net-worth clients and sophisticated tax planning Extensive knowledge of wealth transfer strategies, complex estate planning structures, and advanced trust drafting Proven ability to develop and implement tax-efficient estate planning solutions, including charitable planning and business succession strategies Experience in estate and trust administration, including probate matters and fiduciary representation Admission to the State Bar in the relevant jurisdiction Excellent communication, client management, and problem-solving skills Experience with large firm practices and an LL.M. in Taxation are preferred
