Full-time

Location: Dayton, Ohio (Hybrid, On-Site and Virtual)

Reports: Directly to the Chair of the Board of Trustees

Primary Objective:

The Executive Director provides visionary executive leadership, advocacy, and strategic oversight for Air Camp, Inc., ensuring alignment with the organization’s vision, mission, and strategic goals. Hires and supervises all full and part-time non-seasonal staff members and assures appropriate processes are established, followed, and measured for Operations, Finance,Development, and Marketing. The Executive Director will advocate for Air Camp at local, regional, state, and national levels, building partnerships with industrial, educational, and governmental organizations.

Primary Responsibilities / Activities:

The following responsibilities/activities will be executed in collaboration with Air Camp’s staff.

  • Strategic Leadership and Planning

A. Planning/designing Air Camp programming

B. Financial planning/management

C. Resource development and fundraising

D. Governance

E. Innovation and thought leadership

F. Develops an annual business plan aligning with organizational goals

2. Operational Management and Delivery

A. Operations/delivery of Air Camp experience

B. Administration

C. Risk Management

D. Monitoring and evaluation of organizational processes and procedures

3. Human Resources and Organizational Development

A. Staffing/recruiting/human resources management

B. Leading, directing, evaluating, and rewarding subordinate staff work

C. Supervises and evaluates all employees

D. Providing domain expertise

4. External Relations and Community Engagement

A. Establishes broad partnerships and external relations

Qualifications (Required):

● Bachelor’s degree in fields relating to aviation, aeronautics, or education.

● Demonstrated leadership.

● Proven success in developing, executing, measuring, and reporting the effectiveness of strategic plans for a muti-functional organization

● Strong communication skills, verbal and written.

● The ability to: confidently provide strategic counsel, ask good questions, challenge the status quo, suggest alternatives, and succinctly articulate pros and cons.

● Critical thinking, organizational design and implementation, computer skills, presentation skills, and collaboration.

● Able to work independently, manage time effectively, and make timely critical decisions.

● Able to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholder groups and diverse populations – K-12students and parents, educators and education administrators, military leaders, and business leaders.

● Able to effectively interact with the Board of Trustees to assure consistency with the core values, vision, mission, and goals of Air Camp.

Executive Presence

(Desired)

Master’s degree in Non-Profit Management, Business Administration or a related field.

Minimum 10 years work experience in aviation, aeronautics, or STEM education including at least 5 years’ experience in a non-profit management leadership position.
