What You Will Do:
You will be responsible for supporting existing manufacturing operations and driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on optimizing manufacturing methods and processes within the facility. You'll address and resolve production issues related to materials, processes, and tooling. Additionally, you'll support the launch of new products and programs by developing efficient processes, designing specialized tooling and machinery, and establishing effective production controls.
How You Will Do It:
- Develop efficient manufacturing processes, methodologies, tooling, and production controls for new products and programs; oversee assembly and validation processes.
- Program Amada machinery, including turret punch presses and press brakes.
- Conduct CNC programming for fabricated components across product lines, managing nesting processes, and issuing production orders.
- Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot software supporting manufacturing operations.
- Establish operation definitions and balance workloads in alignment with TAKT time, labor routing, and capacity planning.
- Review project specifications and requirements to ensure compliance in product design and fabrication.
- Support product cost-reduction initiatives aimed at delivering high-quality products efficiently and economically.
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machine tools usage, capabilities, and limitations.
- Collaborate closely with CNC equipment operators to ensure program efficiency and accuracy.
- Continuously seek opportunities to minimize waste and scrap through optimized production methods.
- Perform additional tasks and projects as required.
What We Look For:
Required Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in engineering or computer science with 6 years of progressive, hands-on manufacturing engineering experience.
- Familiarity with formal problem-solving methodologies.
- Experience with financial controls and product costing.
- Demonstrated expertise in introducing new products and processes.
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and standard internet/email applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in sheet metal manufacturing and related processes.
Physical Demands:
This role primarily involves CNC programming tasks and extensive computer use, requiring prolonged periods of sitting. Occasional duties in the manufacturing area will necessitate standing, walking, manual dexterity, and reaching. Occasional bending, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may also be necessary. The position may infrequently require lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds independently, or items over 50 pounds with assistance. Effective verbal and auditory communication skills are essential. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The role demands some physical stamina and may occasionally require working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek.
Work Environment:
This position primarily operates within an office setting. Occasional duties in the manufacturing area will require interaction with moving mechanical parts and may involve periodic exposure to airborne particles, extreme temperatures, risks of electrical shock, and vibrations. The noise level in the manufacturing environment is typically loud, and the workspace may not be climate-controlled.
