The Production Supervisor at Eastern Sheet Metal, a subsidiary of Air Distribution Technologies, Inc, is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of production workers in a fast-paced HVAC sheet metal manufacturing environment. This role ensures production goals are met while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency standards. The Production Supervisor directly oversees employees in the production plant and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, including training employees, assigning work, evaluating performance, and addressing operational challenges.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to ensure efficient workflow and optimal productivity.
- Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications and direct setup and adjustments of machines.
- Monitor production schedules and determine labor requirements to meet customer order deadlines.
- Interpret company policies and enforce safety regulations to maintain a secure work environment.
- Communicate and enforce specifications, drawings, and production orders to team members.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies (e.g., VSM, SMED, 5S, TPM, Kaizen).
- Resolve work-related challenges, assisting employees in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Motivate employees to achieve performance goals and maintain high engagement levels.
- Maintain accurate time and production records to track performance metrics.
- Collaborate with other supervisors and departments to ensure smooth operational flow.
- Lead daily/weekly meetings focused on safety, quality, and operational performance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support plant objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of six (6) years of experience in a manufacturing/production environment, preferably in HVAC sheet metal or ductwork manufacturing.
- At least one (1) year of supervisory experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree with at least one (1) year of experience in a manufacturing/production setting will also be considered.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Internet applications, and email communication.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly supervise employees in the Production Department.
- Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Manufacturing plant environment with moderate noise levels.
- Exposure to machinery, equipment, and moving parts.
- Adherence to safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands to handle materials.
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to maintain focus and accuracy in a dynamic production setting.
