Summary About the position : This position will be assigned to the 97th FSS Child and Development Center. Pay will be set based on experience and education and / or certification : Target Level : $20.46 Intermediate Level : $19.30 Entry Level : $18.21 Responsibilities Serves as a Child and Youth Program Assistant (CYPA) in one or more child and youth programs. Accountable for the whereabouts and safety of children and youth ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years. Assists in providing and leading planned activities. Assist children and youth with special projects, homework and life skills. Performs simple routine tasks following step-by-step instructions. Helps establish a program environment and promotes positive child and youth interactions with other children, youth, and adults. Helps prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate the daily schedule. Uses prepared curriculum / program materials and assists with developing a list of needed supplies and equipment. Helps create adult-made games and play materials (i.e., mixing paint, play dough, assembling props, activities, etc.) Interacts with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques as provided by the supervisors. Attends to the physical needs of the children, as applicable. Interacts professionally with staff members, parents, supervisors, and volunteers. Supervises children and youth during daily schedule of indoor and outdoor activities, on field trips, outings, and special events. Promotes and models safety, fitness, health, and nutrition practices. Cares for special needs children and youth as directed by the supervisor. Notifies supervisor of health, fire and safety compliance concerns. Helps arrange for / serve appropriate snacks / meals, where applicable. Notifies supervisor of health, fire, and safety compliance concerns. Observes program participants for signs that may indicate illness, abuse or neglect and reports as directed. Notes special instructions provided by parents. Ensures children and youth (as applicable) depart with an authorized person according to written parental instructions. Assists in maintaining program participation data and completing required daily reports. Participates in program evaluations as required. Assists in achieving and maintaining DoD certification and national accreditation, where applicable. Ensures compliance with policies and regulations applicable to Air Force Child and Youth Programs. Performs other related duties as assigned. This position performs duties as described on SPG 70177. In addition to duties described on SPG 70177, the incumbent performs the following : transports children and youth in one or more types of passenger government vehicles such as sedan, van, school bus, truck, jeep, station wagon, etc. based on specific trip assignments, or regular schedules. Reads maps and judges road / traffic conditions to determine the shortest and safest route. Enforces passenger seatbelt use. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience : Must be at least 18 years of age, hold a high school diploma (or equivalent). Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. This is an entry level position no training or experience is required. Must meet specific physical requirements, pass a physical examination, and have required immunizations. Must be able to lift 40 lbs or more and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate. Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation installation, state and national criminal background checks is required. Must satisfactorily complete mandatory training as specified below. In addition to SPG 70177 must have the following : Experience in operating one or more gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles with a GVW of up to 10,000 pounds such as pickup trucks, sedans, vans, jeeps, etc. Experience of defensive driving techniques is desired, including skills to recognize developing hazardous road and traffic conditions and the judgment to select alternate routes to avoid potential problems. Must possess a valid state driver's license appropriate for the size and type of vehicle operated. Must provide a copy of driving record. Must maintain a good driving record. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas : Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position DOES NOT allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION : Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification / eligibility / background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal Affiliation. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Direct deposit is required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. A probationary period may be required. Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD). Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs IS NOT authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
