Job Description:
This position is responsible for processing inbound shipment information, investigating discrepancies, and gathering facts related to each shipment. The incumbent will review Government/Commercial Bills of Lading, inspect shipments for discrepancies, and ensure all commercial freight bills are documented and input into the Cargo Movement Operations System (CMOS).
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of standard DoD and Air Force Regulations, policies, and instructions related to freight movement. They will also be skilled in cargo movement rules, regulations, and procedures, as well as practical knowledge of shipment and receipt operations.
In addition to the above qualifications, the candidate must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and be able to prepare correspondence using word processing software.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews Government/Commercial Bills of Lading
- Inspects shipments for discrepancies
- Ensures all commercial freight bills are documented and input into CMOS
- Receives Reports of Shipments (REPSHIPS) from originating shipping activities
- Processes tracer and exception lists submitted from base supply and other agencies
- Uses CMOS to run queries on shipments as part of tracing procedures
Requirements:
- Specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04 or equivalent
- Knowledge of standard DoD and Air Force Regulations, policies, and instructions related to freight movement
- Ability to read new directives or computerized procedures and incorporate them into current operations
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Education:
- 4 years above high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university
