The primary purpose of this position is to broaden the skills and / or enhance the leadership perspective of an identified high-potential, mid-level manager / executive, while contributing support to the mission and function of the Air Force. It is not a continuing position and assignment duration is strictly NTE 36 months.

Duties
DUTY 1 :
Perform career broadening assignments working with Center Level Logisticians and Lead Project Officers / Product Support Managers in planning, organizing, and directing logistics programming support for identified systems / programs. Supports AFNWC Lead personnel to coordinate the efforts of project officers for nuclear weapons projects and ensure successful and effective nuclear enterprise integration. This includes the development, review, validation, and substantiation of current and long-range logistics requirements to support mission objectives. Plans and conducts studies in support of multiple nuclear weapon systems to assure safety, security, reliability, and military operational readiness, as well as the compatibility of the weapons with its delivery system(s). Develops input for supporting logistics policies and procedural systems. In association with integrated product teams, develops logistics guidance and criteria for timely and cost-effective life cycle support and implementation. Studies operational procedures and work methods involving interface with logistics support related to acquisition and sustainment requirements.
DUTY 2 :
Serves as a team member performing career broadening assignments supporting nuclear surety and certification efforts for the nuclear enterprise as applicable if a rotation is possible. Participates in various reviews / evaluations / analyses to support Air Force Safety Center requests. Provides guidance to organizations on the Nuclear Certification Program. Collaborate, as necessary, with the program office / Major Command Nuclear Certification Managers (NCM) in determining the need to enter the nuclear certification process for new acquisitions or modification efforts. Reviews, coordinates, and distributes Nuclear Certification Impact Statement (NCIS). Understands and supports management of the Master Nuclear Certification List. Supports Aircraft Monitor and Control (AMAC) certification and surveillance efforts on applicable weapons systems.
DUTY 3 :
Carries out special projects and assignments designed specifically to meet the broadening intent of the position. Represents the concerns of the organization at meetings and conferences preparing staff studies and various documents to meet special needs. Develops and presents oral presentations; leading and / or serving on steering committees or completing a project aimed at improving organizational effectiveness. Provides responsive and timely support to customers, actively supports achievement of product support program goals and objectives. Works to achieve and support quality improvement in all products and services and takes a proactive approach in providing customer assistance. Contributes to timely and viable resolution of issues and problems that are complete, effective, coordinated, and well researched. Establishes effective professional working relationships with coworkers, or contacts outside the organization contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
DUTY 4 :
Serves as the focal point for planning, management, and coordination of life cycle logistics support for major nuclear enterprise system or subsystem. Manages and monitors acquisition projects throughout their execution. Monitors functional and supporting organization compliance with milestones and performance criteria. Evaluates the status and effectiveness of product support to ensure plans and time-phased schedules are followed by all involved. Identifies conflicting objectives and priorities, analyzes deficiencies, and takes necessary action to ensure that programs / projects are kept on course. Recommends policy and regulatory changes, as well as program enhancements. Reviews programming documents and assesses the impact of external actions and conflicting priorities to determine their impact on the development, production, and product support.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Applicants who have the 1 year of appropriate specialized experience, as indicated in the table, are not required by this standard to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS : Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-12 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
