Duties
Duty 1 :
Perform Career Broadening duties by planning, managing, and coordinating total, cradle to grave logistics management to support a complex, major weapons system from concept through field deployment. Integrates separate functions of supply, maintenance, procurement, and quality assurance into logistics activities needed to sustain system fielding. Acts as liaison and performs duties including contract monitoring, equipment maintenance
and support, field exercises, and testing of logistics phases. Initiates and maintains contacts with tri-service and key contractor personnel. Ensure the compliance of functional and supporting organizations with milestones, performance criteria and goals in executing logistics plans for assigned complex major weapons systems. Advise higher level management on the accomplishment of assigned programs on the resolution of critical problems.
Duty 2 :
Responsible for developing, refining, analyzing, and issuing logistics policies applicable to one or more DoD component(s). Coordinate with representatives of other agencies and organizations concerning precedent-setting, controversial, sensitive and / or complex issues and their impact or potential impact on military requirements, various and different functions, congressional concerns, and private sector organizations.
Duty 3 :
Exercise program responsibility for automated logistics systems to meet the career broadening intent of this position. Develop functional guidance for new systems and for major system modifications. Serve as primary functional advisor and analyst in the design and development of automated logistics systems. Perform systems analyses of complex programs and major problems associated with automated logistics systems. Analyzes complex
problems reported by database users. Lead special automation projects which focus on the resolution of the most
complex system problems and logistics program requirements.
Duty 4 :
As a Career Broadener, reviews and coordinates the development of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) plans for major, complex systems that encompass new and emerging technologies or complicated fielding requirements. Define scope, interface requirements, policy issues, and performance criteria. Identifies and assesses trends, problems, and other influencing factors in establishing and accomplishing ILS plans for assigned systems that may impact future logistics supportability.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : One year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, the specialized experience must have been at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS : Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-12 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs) : Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and / or competencies in the following areas :
1. Knowledge of a wide range of federal and agency logistics concepts, principles, practices, procedures, and regulations applicable to a full range of deployment, distribution and logistics management to include cargo and passenger movement, supply chain management, equipment maintenance, warehousing, planning and operations, under peacetime and wartime conditions to develop and recommend policies and procedures.
2. Knowledge of a wide range of strategic distribution, logistics and supply chain concepts in warehousing, transportation, fleet management, supply, and logistics planning to provide technical guidance to the development of program goals, plans, policies, and procedures and work plans dealing with the development of strategic visions, to evaluate overall process effectiveness, and to recommend methods to help optimize use of resources and maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
3. Knowledge and skill in applying logistics analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issue or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations and recommend improvements.
4. Ability to assimilate, analyze, and evaluate data to formulate command positions; skill and ability to articulate and defend command requirements, and present reports in final format.
5. Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, including senior officials in OSD, the Joint Staff, DLA, GSA, TCCs, and other government and federal agencies.
6. Ability to plan, lead and organize projects.
