Qualifications/Requirements
In this position you will perform duties as an accounting technician resolving complex problems, developing and revising accounting procedures, and providing liaison functions between base organizations and the Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS).
- U.S. Citizenship Required
- Obtain & maintain a Secret Security clearance
- Qualifications- https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/0500/accounting-technician-series-0525/
- Experience as a performing duty as senior accounting technician in resolving complex problems, developing and revising accounting procedures
- Experience receiving, reviewing, and classifying complex transactions where guidelines lack specificity to requirements, circumstances, or problems and/or frequently change
- Experience maintaining, reconciling, and closing accounts involving a variety of transactions
- Experience analyzing and examining accounting data and accounts to resolve complex, nonstandard transactions, complaints, or discrepancies
- Knowledge of an extensive body of accounting procedures to understand and work with an identifiable segment of an integrated double-entry accounting system
- Knowledge of the Prompt Payment Act as it affects accounts
- Knowledge of accounting files, listings, and document control systems as well as the relationships between accounts and the effect of debit and credit entries on the system of account
- Knowledge of account codes related to an automated system and the requirements for processing transactions in an automated system
- This is a Financial Management Level 1 certified; incumbent shall comply with the requirements if the certification program
