The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Full-Time FIRE PROTECTION ENGINEER (NH-0804-04) to work at Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) in the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex (OC-ALC) at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Professional Engineer Subject Matter Expert for fire protection and prevention. The position provides fire protection and prevention expertise on and design requirements for installation, removal and relocation of industrial shops and equipment for the Complex. Plans, coordinates, synchronizes, and integrates innovative fire prevention and protection engineering procedures, plans, designs and technical work methods into future Complex facility and equipment planning and design to ensure compliance with and improvement of fire safety across the Complex. Expertly reviews, analyzes, assess, and validates engineering designs for fire prevention and protection requirements. REQUIREMENTS: 1. Mastery of advanced concepts, principles and practices in professional engineering which enables the incumbent to serve as an authoritative expert and consultant in the full range of systems and engineering functions. 2. Registered Professional Engineer who has passed the fire protection engineering written examination administered by the National Counsel of Examiners for Engineering and Surveys. KSAS: 1. Knowledge of fire protection, life-safety and environmental principals, practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and other current issues to make complex technical and professional decisions. Knowledge of environmental principles, practices, procedures, law, regulation, and current legislative issues as they relate to fire protection systems. 2. Knowledge of construction standards, methods, practices, and techniques, materials and equipment to determine compliance with regulations and standards. Knowledge of standards, contracting regulations, practices, and procedures. 3. Ability to plan, develop, implement, and coordinate a complete Fire Protection Program; to identify problems and develop innovative solutions; and to apply new developments, and experienced judgment to resolve a variety of highly technical fire protection problems. 4. Ability to plan and implement training in area of expertise; to plan, conduct, and record surveys and inspections of fire protection systems; and to plan and organize work, coordinate work of other engineering disciplines and architect, and meet deadlines. 5. Ability to gather, organize, analyze and integrate facts, draw conclusions and devise timely economical solutions in extremely complex engineering areas; and to research, analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures; and to communicate orally and in writing, and maintain good working relationships. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in the capacity of spokesperson for the Squadron/Branch. Must also communicate with mid- and top-level decision makers within the maintenance environment, his/her superiors, peers and personnel at the working level on issues related to engineering. Additional Requirements 1. Required to possess a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science Degree in Fire Protection Engineering from an accredited University Engineering Program. Required to have 5 years work experience in Fire Protection Engineering.
