The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Full-Time Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic (WG-5803-10) to work in 27th Transportation Squadron at Cannon AFB in Clovis, NM.

The primary purpose of this position is to maintain, troubleshoot, overhaul, repair, and modify a variety of heavy duty vehicles and mobile equipment which have utility systems or special hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems, features, or controls designed for such purposes as construction, combat, earth moving, firefighting, and comparable industrial or special applications.

Salary Range is $30.74 - $35.89 an hour based on experience.

Requirements For This Position

• U.S. Citizenship
• May require certification for servicing and maintaining automotive air conditioning systems
• Must receive training on the handling and disposition of hazardous waste
• As required, trains and/or guides lower grade personnel
• Knowledge of heavy mobile equipment assembly, installation, and repair, i.e., bulldozers, road graders, power shovels, mobile cranes, heavy combat equipment, and missile transporters
• Knowledge of technical practices in order to repair/overhaul major systems, i.e., diesel, multi-fuel, and gasoline engines, automatic and manual transmissions, multi-gear assemblies, and a variety of positioning systems.
• Knowledge of safety practices and procedures
• Skill in using measuring instruments and test equipment such as engine analyzers, dynamometers, exhaust analyzers, vacuum and fuel pump testers, injector testers, ignition timers, tachometers, ammeters, and ohmmeters
• Skill in troubleshooting mechanical problems, analyzing malfunctions, and determining the extent of repairs necessary
• Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, overhaul, repair, and modify a variety of heavy mobile vehicles and equipment without more than normal supervision
• Ability to interpret instructions, technical manuals, illustrations, specifications, diagrams, schematics, and similar guides to make repairs and modifications
• Ability to use and maintain hand and/or power tools and equipment required to do the work of heavy mobile equipment mechanic
