OPENS: 29 JANUARY 2025 CLOSES: 11 FEBRUARY 2025 Air Force Civilian Service is currently seeking a full-time, Lead General Engineer to work in the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, Minuteman III (MMIII) Systems Division, Reentry System/Reentry Vehicle (RS/RV) Branch, Support Equipment Section at Hill Air Force Base near Layton, Utah. This position (044346) is an NH-0801-03 which has a typical 2025 salary range of $88,621 - $137,000. *This position is not eligible for full time or remote telework; situational-based agreements may be available at the discretion of the hiring manager. The fundamental mission of MMIII is to stand as a strategic deterrent to nuclear attack against the United States. The MMIII Systems Division ensures that the ground-based leg of America’s nuclear triad is “Never Doubted – Always Feared”. The primary purpose of this position is to direct technical management of the engineering workload within the RS/RV Branch, Support Equipment Section. Weapon system responsibilities include the sustainment of depot support equipment and field support equipment for the RS/RV branch, as well as acquisition of new depot support equipment through the DRSERP program. DUTIES:

  • Duties include, but are not limited to, management of government and contractor teams’ work assignments, tracking project progress, evaluating work products, mentoring junior team members, and process development/improvement.
  • Direct and explain Systems Engineering principles and processes to teams and engineers for multiple sustainment and acquisition efforts.
  • Perform duties as a cognizant engineer for technical requests from the depot and field maintenance technicians, to include 202 and ETAR requests.
  • Communicate status, shortfalls, and needs of project teams to leadership.
  • Ensure quality of technical products delivered to leadership and review boards.
  • Provide expertise on technical design, acquisition, test, and operational issues related to requirements, systems engineering, and performance, for the RS/RV Support Equipment portfolio.
  • Support technical reviews of emerging technologies to determine applicability and technical readiness levels for Air Force nuclear weapon systems; implement digital engineering concepts.
  • Review technical documents, e.g., Test Plans/Reports, TERB Briefings, 202s, ETARs, EOs, SEP, TEMP, drawings, Technical Orders, etc.
  • Work with Model Based System Engineering digital environment specialty areas to include Systems Engineering, Systems Architecture, Modeling and Simulation, Analytics, 3DCAD/CAM, other manufacturing, process, and depot capabilities to plan, design, develop, integrate, test and verify at the system, element or component level. SKILLS:
  • Familiarity with MMIII weapon systems, particularly RS/RV subsystems experience, is preferred.
  • Experience administering Systems Engineering principles and identifying weapon system sustainment needs.
  • Highly effective written and oral communication skills and demonstrated experience leading in a team environment.
  • Understanding of DoD weapon system issues, and experience working with government organizations in areas such as research and development, design, acquisition, production, maintenance, repair, engineering support, testing and evaluation, aging surveillance, and/or system modification.
  • Demonstrated ability to determine objectives, make sound, risk-based decisions, set priorities, and successfully accomplish organizational goals.
  • Experience in managing specifications, models and initial product baseline within a digital engineering architectural model is preferred.
  • Experience in developing positive working relationships with individuals/organizations across the ICBM-community.
  • U.S. CITIZENSHIP
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance, and will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.

  • In accordance with the Ethics in Government Act, 1978, employee will be required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.
