The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is recruiting for Full-time Police Officers to work with 22nd Security Forces Squadron McConnell AFB Wichita, KS. The job duties of this position are to perform integrated defense, law enforcement, force protection, preserve the peace, detect and investigate crimes, arrest/apprehend violators, and respond to emergency situations. To enforce a wide range of federal laws and assimilated local laws for application and enforcement within the jurisdiction of the military installation. DUTY ***This is a Federal Government civilian position – no active or reserve duty commitments*** DUTIES:
- Incumbent has full powers of apprehension and detention, which entails carrying a firearm, mirandizing suspects, preserving evidence and testifying in court as it pertains to enforcing regulations within assigned jurisdiction.
- Conducts investigations of crimes and complaints covering a wide range of subjects and allegations that are not within the scope of Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) or the scope of the higher-level detectives assigned to the Squadron. Complaints range from simple inquiries to incidents/complaints requiring investigations that are relatively short in duration and end with the detention of a suspect.
- Serves as the primary command and control (C2) function for all Integrated Defense forces. Executes the Quick Reaction Checklists (QRC) to ensure proper execution of routine, emergency and alarm responses.
- Acts as the initial on scene commander for significant and catastrophic events (e.g. active shooter, terrorist attacks, and natural disasters) and initiates Air Force Incident Management System (AFIMS). KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (KSA’s):
- Knowledge of law enforcement procedures, training requirements and operating methods required to perform the full range of police officer activities independently.
- Knowledge of special operating requirements, methods, and procedures for enforcing specialized personnel access controls to prevent unauthorized access to areas where stringent security requirements are enforced.
- Knowledge of appropriate use of force and self-defense techniques to protect oneself and others in threatening situations including the ability to subdue and control individuals as required.
- Ability to operate motor vehicles have a gross weight of 7,000 pounds or less, loading capacities of 1 ton or less, and 2- or 4-wheel drive to transport personnel and/or articles.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community management, employees, and other law enforcement agencies. BENEFITS: TIME OFF

- Must pass an initial pre-employment medical examination, periodic medical examinations, meet established hearing standards and discern colors, contrast, and depth, and required initial and annual Department of the Air Force Civilian Police (DACP) Physical Agility Test
- Required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
- Must work an uncommon tour of duty, to include nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, rotating shifts, and recall
- Must wear approved protective clothing such as body armor/ballistic plates, helmets, personal protective equipment, coats, boots, traffic vests and/or chemical protective equipment, ( e.g. respirator mask)
- Must undergo initial job compatibility assessment
- Incumbent must possess a valid driver's license and be able to operate all security forces vehicles and installed equipment
- Ability to employ 'infantry/SWAT' small unit tactics involving fire and maneuver, with rapid advancing movement between defensive positions, while wearing protective gear for extended periods of time, (e.g. Employing "Active Shooter" response tactics and techniques as a member of a small team is required).
- Must obtain and maintain a government travel card. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station.
- The incumbent must obtain and maintain qualifications and/or certifications for the following: Flight Armorer, Active Vehicle Barrier, National Crime Information Center (NCIC), Emergency Management Systems, Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS), Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST), Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE), Security Forces Management Information System (SFMIS), Air Force Justice Information System (AFJIS), Evidence Management Portal (EMP), Evidence Management Collection Exchange (ECMX), Explosive Detection Device (EDD), Defense Data Exchange (DDEX), authoritative databases, Small Unmanned Aircraft System (SUAS), electronic booking stations, speed measurement devices, non-lethal weapons (e.g. neuromuscular incapacitating device (NMID), baton, etc.).
- Must complete the following duty position evaluations (DPEs) within the first two years of employment and be successfully re-evaluated in accordance with standards listed in AFI 31-2646, Security Forces Training and Standardization Evaluation Program. The DPE qualifications must occur in this order; (1) Installation Entry Controller, (2) Patrolman/Security Response Team, (3) Alarm Monitor and (4) Base Defense Operations Center Controller/Dispatcher. ******The Physical Agility Test (PAT) is a condition of employment standard which requires applicants to successfully pass the established standards push-ups 19 (within 2 minutes), and 1.5-mile run (17:30 or less). ***
