Position duties include but are not limited to :
- Develop and implement a knowledge and data strategy across AFRL, balancing access, capability, quality, integrity, and security.
- Establish policies and standards for effective data management and utilization in a modern AI-capable environment.
- Drive modernization of data and AI capabilities, prioritizing human-machine teaming and integrating disparate data sources, systems, and platforms to leverage data as a strategic asset.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning, improving customer relationships with knowledge and driving service development through advanced analytics, AI, and machine learning.
- Track advancements in the latest data architectures, AI technologies, and knowledge management, and integrate them into ongoing projects and strategies, leveraging commercial tools and developments to maximize knowledge relationships.
- Lead programs and projects, serving as a digital ally and expert on government data and AI policies, representing AFRL on data, knowledge, and AI topics, and developing strong relationships with industry partners and stakeholders.

Information Technology (IT) Specialist (2210) : To meet the eligibility of an IT Specialist, applicants must meet the following basic requirements :Experience that demonstrated the accomplishment of computer project assignments that required a wide range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques pertinent to the position to be filled.This knowledge is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant analyzes several alternative approaches in the process of advising management concerning major aspects of IT system design, such as what system interrelationships must be considered, or what operating mode, system software, and / or equipment configuration is most appropriate for a given project.For a full description of the 2210 requirements, see the following Occupational Requirements here : Occupational Requirements 2210.
Data Science (1560) : To meet the eligibility of the Data Science series, applicants must meet the following basic requirements :Degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position.The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.For a full description of the 1560 requirements, see the following Occupational Requirements here : Occupational Requirements 1560.
Ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov.This is a drug testing designated position.The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.Selectee will be required to file an OGE 450, Confidential Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.Desired Qualifications
Strong understanding and history of execution of data management, analytics, and knowledge management principles and practices.Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining critical data systems, including the use of APIs, Cloud, AI and other related technologies.Strong familiarity with AI including RAG, Agentics and other emerging practices.Experience leading customers and organizations through processes that require information design, data schemas, data architecture, etc.Experience of leading organizational or functional teams in the execution of multiple projects.Experience demonstrating technical leadership, technical management, and communication skills.Experience with advanced analytics, AI, and machine learning technologies.Experience with design and creation of large government systems, ERPs, etc. is preferred.Experience leading and driving change across geographically distributed collaborative teams.Experience creating solutions to be used in complex environments such as research laboratories or other technical organizations.IT project or program management experience including IT acquisition, resource allocation, requirements analysis, and designing services for solid customer interaction.Familiarity with Department of the Air Force and DoD systems and networks.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage and direct complex projects.Ability to work with a diverse group of partners and stakeholders to solve problems and achieve shared solutions.Certifications meeting DoD 8140.03 Cyberspace Workforce Qualifications Management Program requirements for multiple work roles.Position to be aligned with work roles of both Data Steward (424) and Cyber Policy and Strategy Planner (752) at advanced levels under DoD 8140.03; pending final guidance from DoD, other work role qualifications under DoD 8140.03 or former DoD 8570.01M certification guidance desired.For additional information on DoD Cyber Workforce Framework, refer to DoD Cyber Workforce Framework.
