The Aerospace Physiology Research Section of the 711th Human Performance Wing within the Air Force Research Laboratory (711HPW / RHBFP) is looking for a data scientist with experience in human physiology research. The RHBFP Section needs to fill the DR-1560-02 / 03, Data Scientist Position.

Position Duties include but are not limited to :

Serves as a Data Scientist performing research efforts to support and advise the 711th Human Performance Wing, Biomedical Impact of Air and Space research efforts.
Collects and analyzes large and complex datasets related to human physiology and cognitive performance, utilizing statistical techniques, machine learning algorithms, and data mining approaches.
Establishes programming and software for data synchronization, modeling, and cognitive task development.
Identifies and integrates relevant features from diverse data sources to enhance predictive modeling and analysis of human performance variables.
Develops and implements advanced machine learning models and algorithms to predict and understand human performance and biomedical outcomes.
Creates effective data visualizations and reports to communicate research findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Conducts foundational research, both individually and as a technical leader, over a broad range of topics to optimize human health and performance.
Develops and reviews human subject research protocols, presentations, technical reports and other science and technology products.
Establishes collaborative partnerships with academia, industry, other Government agencies and international entities.

Required Qualifications

Flexible Length and Renewable Term Technical Appointments.

Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

This position may require travel.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Applicants must have at least one (1) year or 52 weeks of specialized experience in the next lowest grade in the Federal service or equivalent in an alternate pay system.

Knowledge of Air Force operations, objectives, principles, and methods.

Direct experience with physiological monitoring applied research.

Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to multitask with strong organizational skills.

Experience in mission, major issues, program goals and objectives, work processes, and operations of the Directorate.

Familiarity with human performance research, including physiological measurements, biomechanics, exercise science, cognitive performance, and related areas.

Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, along with experience in data manipulation, data wrangling, and SQL for data retrieval.

Demonstrates mastery of machine learning algorithms, feature selection techniques, model evaluation, and hyperparameter optimization.

Knowledge of management and organizational principles and practices.

Strong leadership to mentor and develop other military and government civilian personnel.
