The AFRL Munitions Directorate seeks to hire a Mid-Level multidisciplinary engineer as the Section Chief, Fuzing Electronics Section at Eglin AFB in Valparaiso, Florida.

Experience in the following :

Supervising technicians and scientists and / or testing associated with the evaluation of components with fuzing electronics and / or Systems engineering & integration for components & higher levels.
Working with / within the DoD R&D community.
Developing and maintaining close relationships with industry, academia, and other government agencies on S&T and / or safety / quality aspects in operations.
Technical training and / or being an effective team member working on multidisciplinary (R&D) efforts focused on munition fuzing.

Position duties include but are not limited to :

Directs, coordinates and oversees work through subordinate employees.

Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of senior management.

Utilizes multidisciplinary professional engineering / scientific work to plan, organize, lead and coordinate research projects.

Applies diverse engineering practices, techniques, and processes to identify and resolve issues.

Performs analysis and uses systematic, disciplined approaches to manage projects.

Determines how best to accomplish multi-disciplinary engineering objectives.

Delivers presentations of results and monitors in-house activities.

Prepares contractual documents and evaluates technical proposals.

Develops and maintains collaborations within and outside AFRL.

Reports status to peers and senior technical leaders as required.

Organizes, manages, and participates in workshops and technical exchange meetings.

Required Qualifications

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.

Eligibility to obtain and maintain a TS SCI security clearance. This is a drug testing position.

Designated as an acquisition coded position, Tier 1 - Foundational, Non-Critical in Engineering & Technology Management.

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT : You must meet the following qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

To qualify at the DR-2 GS-12 / 13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, which includes knowledge of standards for DoD / AF explosive safety.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE :

One year of specialized experience, which includes knowledge of standards for DoD / AF explosive safety.

The definition of specialized experience is typical of work done at the next lower grade / level position in the federal service (GS-11 / DR / DO-02).

Must have at least one year of specialized related experience at the DR / DO-01 / GS-11 or equivalent grade level.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level / Tier 2 (Practitioner) Non-Critical certification in Engineering & Technical Management.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with the technical areas below :

Experience working with or within the Department of Defense or similar research community.

Master’s Degree / PhD from an ABET accredited school.

Experience with high voltage electronic systems.

Experience designing both digital and analog electronic systems.

Familiarity with application of MIL-STD-1316D to fuze systems.

Demonstrated ability to lead or guide small cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams.

Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.

The ability to work and lead others in complex, non-standard, and fast-paced environments.
