About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Family Support Center Work/Life Consultant (NH-0101-02) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Mission Support Group, 412th Force Support Squadron, Military and Family Readiness Center (412 FSS/FSH) at Edwards Airforce Base.
To assign commanders, military personnel and their families, and DoD civilian employees in managing the competing demands of the military mission and family. The Military and Family Readiness Center (M&FRC) provides information and family services necessary to support single and married personnel, civilian employees, and family members through provision and conduct of programs and services that provide information, improve skills by fostering competencies and coping skills, and offer short term support and assistance when necessary. The primary purpose of this position is to plan, implement, administer, and counsel units and their leadership on individual, family, and community issues including but not limited to career assistance, transition, relocation, family, and other work/life service and activities provided to military members, retirees, Department of Defense (DoD) civilian members, and their families.

Location: Edwards, CA (Edwards Air Force Base)
Typical 2024 salary range: $46,020 – 109,673 per year (includes locality)
Telework Information: Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) prescribed "Unscheduled Telework"
Travel Requirements: No travel
Direct Hire Authority: NO 6-MONTH WAIT! Recently retired and/or retiring from MILITARY service ARE eligible for immediate appointment for AFTC positions. The 180-day waiting period has been waived for AFTC to hire recently retired and/or retiring service members.
- Develops and uses self-assessment, community-assessment, and various measurement tools to identify trends, organizational needs, and Air Force and unit demographic profiles.
- Designs, manages, develops, and implements procedures to monitor, analyze and document service effectiveness.
- Develops, implements, and manages installation, work/life services programs.
- Gathers data, compiles statistics, and reports information to M&FRC Flight Chief for use at installation, MAJCOM, Air Staff, and DoD levels.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Obtain & maintain Security clearance
- This is a designated Drug Testing Position
- Behavioral or social science degree; or combined education and experience that provides knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
- Knowledge of social services delivery systems as well as wide range of concepts, principles, theories, and practices relating to one or more of the social or behavioral science fields.
- Skill in conducting interviews to establish the nature and extent of concerns/issues, provide assistance in developing goals and plans, and determine appropriate referral services/options when frequently there is difficulty in determining clients' needs or wants or in convincing them to accept that problems exist.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to assess and measure organization trends, and needs; assist in identifying and prioritizing goals; and provide guidance and direction for the development and implementation of effective plans and tools to address such issue.
