We seek individuals who are looking for an opportunity to grow with us. The Controls Field Technician is responsible for service field calls, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC control issues.
Other responsibilities include preventative maintenance along with the startup, testing/commissioning of construction projects. This position reports to a team project manager and will work closely with the design engineer to ensure they have the necessary tools to be successful on each project.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot commercial HVAC controls and building automation systems.
- Troubleshoot DDC systems, low voltage control systems, and computer networks.
- Have knowledge in mechanical systems and sequences of operations.
- Startup and testing of building automation systems.
- Work directly with clients and subcontractors to facilitate the installation of designed control systems.
- Follows a systematic plan for complete startup of systems and turnover to project team.
- Responsible for documentation of startup process for the system.
- Take initiative to find solutions.
- Document tested points / and wiring runs/startup process.
- Startup/Testing of terminal unit and air handling unit controllers as well as central plant controllers.
- Interface with 3rd party manufacturer controls.
- Read and able to understand mechanical design documents (duct layouts, piping schematics, riser diagrams) as well as manufacturer's wire diagrams.
- Terminate and troubleshoot wiring and system components.
- Create software points in the controllers.
- Test automatic programming sequence.
- Maintain daily reports on project progress and open items.
- Perform any additional tasks as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2 years Controls field technician experience.
- Niagara Webs Controls.
- CARRIER IVU Controls.
- Able to endure hot and cold environments.
- Physically able to be exposed to vibration and repetitive motion such as bending, lifting, twisting, crouching, reaching, pushing, and/or pulling.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Able to meet deadlines while performing tasks with completeness and accuracy.
