Description
An Applications Engineer with Air Hydro Power researches, collects, and reports information on the ability and capacity of company products and competing equipment. Aids in the design and development of equipment and systems, and redesign of existing systems to fulfill the needs of customers. Responsibilities also include providing equipment functionality and capability reports to our sales force and acting as a technical liaison to our sales team. Additional responsibilities:
- Cross-reference competitive products to those of represented manufacturers.
- Answer general technical support calls from customers and inside/outside sales teams.
- Create Bill of Materials for projects in Excel and price jobs for customer quotations through P21.
- Enter quotes, orders, and production orders into P21 to process through the shop.
- Source, price, and purchase product for projects while working with new and existing vendors.
- Work with shop foreman and assemblers as needed to complete projects to customer's specifications.
- Log and maintain files and data on projects and catalog library in engineering and AHP server.
- Design 80/20 assemblies using AutoQuoterX (AutoCAD).
- Draw 2-D schematics for Fluid Power & Electrical systems using AutoCAD.
- Design and draft mechanical adapters and manifolds in 3-D using Inventor and/or SolidWorks.
- Program PLC, HMI, VFD, Servo, Vision, Robots, Safety, and other systems.
- Provide start-up assistance and on-site technical assistance to customers and salesmen.
- Conduct on-site product training for customers.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong computer literacy and technical background, including knowledge of AutoCAD, Inventor Design software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- A high mechanical aptitude and spatial reasoning skills.
- An interest in working with numbers and data.
- Must be able to travel to vendor meetings and training as needed.
