The Polykon Manufacturing site, opened in 2020, is located near Richmond, Virginia, USA. The plant specializes in producing ingredients for cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. It has enhanced our proximity to our North American customers and increased our manufacturing capabilities worldwide.
Its overall concept was designed to incorporate the highest levels of manufacturing quality for cosmetic and pharmaceutical ingredients. All of the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are integrated at the product flow level as well as at the individual flow level. The units, all outfitted with a self-cleaning system, are fully automated for consistent and easily traceable quality.
The plant has been designed with a minimal-waste or emission objective. The best available techniques were used to reduce waste and emissions to a strict minimum at their origin. The principles of recycling have been systematically adopted and final discharge treatment systems have been installed at the vent and waste-water levels to ensure there is minimal impact on the environment.
The facility has obtained ISO 9001:2015, EFfCI and RSPO certification.
The Procurement Specialist's duties will include the following responsibilities:
Acquiring goods and services required by an organization to meet our operational needs and managing the procurement process efficiently.
Seek to obtain and purchase all goods and services at the lowest possible total end cost, considering the guidelines of prices, service, quality, delivery and reliability.
Responsible for supply of goods within a particular purchasing category of an assigned department.
Following the designated budget category to purchase all goods and services for the business.
Monitoring supplier performance, placing orders to suppliers, developing a responsive supplier base, and maintaining good supplier relations.
Coordinate with all internal departments, process, production, maintenance, logistics, regulatory and QA to trial and approve additional sources of inputs. (Goal: Eliminate mono-sourcing, Diversify supply chain risks, Eliminate unnecessarily purchasing from distributors for convenience rather than TCO justification, Eliminate importing materials that can be replaced domestically).
Ensure that the standard deviation of actual delivery vs PO requested delivery is /- 3 days (leading indicator of supply shortages/ future failures of MRP)
Accurately document and file PR, POs and invoices (fiduciary responsibility, less waste in system from time spent digging through drives to find, etc) .
Working with the Broker for import products to comply with law and keep track of all ISF and Customs entry documents.
Demonstrated history of reducing COGS with multimillion dollar spend responsibility
History of implementing kanban/kaizen or equivalent
History of freight cost reduction outcomes
Experience in import/export- Asia and Europe
Experience sourcing domestically and internationally
Experience establishing a vendor performance tracking system (scorecard, matrix, etc.)
History of meeting KPIs in operating capital targets/ inventory turns/ OOS events within a manufacturing environment.
ISO/FDA experience
Detail-oriented and be able to create reports and establish KPIs
4 year degree (preferred, not required)
Chemical manufacturing experience would be beneficial
Cosmetic industry experience would be beneficial
