How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
The HSE Manager will develop & implement Seppic Inc., Richmond’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) activities in compliance with federal, state, local, and Seppic corporate requirements.Collaborates with other site representatives to ensure the overall corporate HSE strategy is refined for the site and executed minimizing the Seppic Inc., Richmond’s general liability and exposure to safety, environmental compliance and security risks.
Establish and maintain a strong leadership and teaching position in the practical implementation of company policies and governmental standards. Ensure Site maintains continuous “audit ready” state of compliance with company and governmental HSE Standards.
Responsible for interpreting and deploying all company HSE Standards as they specifically apply to the site. Identifies issues and actively promotes and participates in corrective actions to improve policies and procedures and associated practical implementation.
Leads and participates in the execution of all site environmental compliance programs, including air, stormwater, water, spill control, waste management, and wastewater.
Executes proper management of the site's hazardous waste management activities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and standards. Responsible for maintaining a catalogue of waste profiles suited to meeting the operational needs of the facility.
Delivers training and coaching to establish clear understanding / engagement by all site associates on HSE expectations. Participates in continuous improvement related activities to assure the training expectations and systems are practical, effective, and compliant.
Conducts frequent safety visits to the workshops to promote safety culture, check safety rules application and to propose safety improvement if needed.
Leads incident investigations and HSE related incidents utilizing specific standardized tools to drive to root cause analysis and identify actions to prevent recurrence. Drives completion of recognized corrective actions to prevent incident recurrence are effectively implemented, including execution of corrective actions developed from other site incidents.
Inspect and maintain safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, safety showers/eyewash, First Aid kits and AED’s
Leads the site Emergency Response Program
Leads site efforts to measure and improve Industrial Hygiene Risk. This includes but is not limited to: ergonomics, dust, noise, and chemical exposure. Coordinates all necessary IH and audiometric monitoring.
Owns the overall site Contractor Safety program to reduce risk associated with construction and trade contactor activity. Ensures project managers are accountable for proper management of contractors.
Assists with execution of site security requirements in order to meet corporate standards and with the oversight of security operations on the site. This includes management of contract security providers.
Coordinates PSM activities.
Works with third party risk control experts to ensure compliance with company standards on new projects.
Maintain the facility-wide, web-based chemical inventory list and Safety Data Sheets
Track, compile and report safety, environmental, and training statistics
Complete and or coordinate completion of environmental compliance reports.
Support Activities:
Promotes and actively supports the site management team to foster a caring culture where safety, health and environment are ingrained as a core value equal to other business functions within the site.
Partners with other key functions on initiatives including Engineering, Operations, Sourcing, and Quality to develop and deliver site based goals and plans.
Effectively leads, coaches and develops operations line supervision to be effective HSE leaders/coaches in their respective positions.
Ability to interact with site level manufacturing/business management, and regulatory agencies is required
Strong written and verbal communication skills including a high level of comfort developing and delivering training and motivational presentations to all levels of associates.
Detail oriented and ensure compliance of safety processes are strictly followed
Capacity to liaise with other Seppic site ( France,..) or other Air Liquide site to exchange and to deploy the good practises

Are you a MATCH?
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in science (ex. engineering, safety, IH, etc.) or 10 plus years of experience preferred.
3-5 years’ experience managing safety programs in a manufacturing environment
Bachelor degree in relevant field preferred
Strong safety regulatory knowledge and expertise, such as EPA, OSHA, PSM and DOT.
Experience with hazard recognition, behavioral-based safety, job hazard analysis is desired
Experience with laboratory safety (chemical hygiene, safe lab practices) is a plus
This position is located in Sandston, VA (near Richmond)
