Job Summary
The Air Mobility Command is seeking a Food Service Worker to join their team. As a key member of the facilities team, you will be responsible for setting up and serving food in the cafeteria, as well as performing cleaning and maintenance tasks.
About the Role
This is a Flex (Intermittent) position, with guaranteed 0-40 hours per week depending on the needs of the facility. You will work closely with the culinary team to ensure that meals are served efficiently and effectively, while also maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and serve food in the cafeteria, including hot and cold items, beverages, and desserts
- Clean and maintain the dining area, including tables, chairs, and equipment
- Operate dishwashers and perform routine cleaning tasks
- Scrape, soak, scour, and scrub pots, pans, and other kitchen utensils
- Perform heavy-duty cleaning tasks, such as ceiling cleaning, exhaust hood cleaning, and floor washing
- Unload food from delivery trucks and collect and transfer trash
- Assemble and serve fresh fruit or green salads in quantity using prepared dressings
- Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and other beverages
- Process cash transactions and prepare cashier reports at the end of shifts
Requirements
- Ability to follow simple oral instructions
- Ability to use hand tools for cleaning and operate simple machines
- Skill in doing tasks with several steps and using judgment in sequencing tasks
- Knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food, and for cleaning equipment and work area
- Experience in operation of a cash register, direct handling of cash items, and cash accountability is desirable
- Must have ability to communicate both orally and in writing
Physical Effort
This role requires continual standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. You will also frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lift or move objects weighing over 40 pounds with assistance.
