JOB SUMMARY
The CNC Junior Operator operates computer numerical-control (CNC) horizontal lathe, mills, or turning centers to perform machining operations such as turning, boring, facing, and threading parts such as castings, forgings, and bar stock after the job is set up and approved for production by the Quality department.
Their primary job roles and responsibilities are listed below.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
Operates and maintains measuring instruments such as but not limited to: height gauges, micrometers, scales and calipers.
Read and understand blueprints.
Assists with preventative maintenance on CNC machines, all press tooling, assembly dies, and other related production fixtures.
CNC Operation: Operate CNC machines to manufacture automotive components, ensuring that parts meet design specifications and tolerances.
Inspection: Measure and inspect parts using tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure that they meet strict quality standards.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment by adhering to established safety policies, 5S, and procedures, as well as wearing all appropriate personal protective equipment.
Remove and install hanging cores in MALO molds
Inspect MALO cold runners and breakdown and reassemble
Inspect MALO molds
Safely handle tools and molds
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Ability to read and write English
Some computer experience an asset
Ability to work with other people as part of a team
TRAINING/SKILLS
Good mechanical skills and aptitude
Attention to detail and precision measurement
Ability to operate CNC mills, lathes and grinders
Good communication skills
Teamwork: Although much of the work is done independently, CNC operators must collaborate with other team member
Basic math skills
