Position Summary
The Senior Manager of Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for leading and transforming the Manufacturing Engineering organization, ensuring the development and execution of manufacturing processes, industrial controls, system configuration, and technical support across all satellite development and production phases. This role requires strategic leadership, technical expertise in Satellite Manufacturing, and a strong cross-department collaboration to enhance productivity, cost-effectiveness, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transformation & Leadership
- Assess and optimize the team structure to improve efficiency and collaboration, both within the Manufacturing Engineering team and across other functions (Engineering, Supply Chain...)
- Develop and implement the Manufacturing Engineering strategy to optimize production processes and ensure operational excellence.
- Align manufacturing engineering initiatives with company goals, balancing cost, quality, and schedule objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Manufacturing Engineering Development
- Oversee all Satellites Manufacturing Engineering functions (system, mechanical, launch, electrical, industrial controls), ensuring state-of-the-art design for manufacturing product, and deployment of manufacturing equipment, tooling and infrastructures.
- Ensure development and validation of Procedures, Test scripts, Ground System Equipment, Framework, Automation and ICS implementation used across satellites production lines and launch operations.
- Lead the team in providing technical support to daily production and troubleshooting flight hardware and infrastructure, including repair, calibration and validation of equipment used in Production and Launch
- Oversee System & Configuration Management for Manufacturing Engineering, managing system electrical and mechanical AIT plans, and driving process improvement initiatives
- Cross-functional Collaboration & Compliance
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and other Operations teams to align manufacturing strategies with overall business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry standards.
Qualification and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems (or related field) required
- Preferred Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems (or related field)
- 10 years of experience in manufacturing or engineering
- At least 5 years in a leadership role
- Experience in Satellite, or Satellite components manufacturing
- Knowledge of government and commercial manufacturing standards.
- Proven ability to lead a cross-functional teams and drive cultural change
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skill
Eligibility:
- U.S. Citizenship required
Clearance:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance
- Active DoD security clearance at Top Secret/ SCI desirable
Physical Requirements:
- Carrying: able to carry documents and/or electronic equipment up to 20lbs/9kg.
- Lifting: able to lift documents and/or electronic equipment up to 20lbs/9kg.
- Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas.
- Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.
- Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
- Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice up to 30%.
- Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
