Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities
The Aireon Internship Program is an opportunity for students to be a part of the Aireon teams that are making groundbreaking advancements in global air traffic surveillance. As an Intern, you’ll begin making an impact on real projects from day one! Come prepared to grow, develop, and learn alongside a team and the leaders of our company. The Aireon Internship program is a 12-week program that runs from May 27, 2025, to August 15, 2025. During the program, interns will have the opportunity to provide valuable support to an Aireon department on a project or important work assignment. Interns will also be provided an opportunity to engage with senior leadership and fellow interns through regular engagement activities.
The Systems Engineering Intern will join the Aireon 3.0 project and support the design and development of the next generation of Aireon's core system. They will assist with systems engineering tasks from managing requirements to documenting internal and external interfaces to developing and executing test procedures. The intern will come away with experience making technical decisions and interfacing with system stakeholders.

What You'll Do
- Attend weekly tag up meetings to review progress on assigned tasks.
- Support the Aireon 3.0 Systems Engineering team's preparations for critical design review (CDR).
- Assist with updating Systems Engineering documentation to reflect recent changes in the design of 3.0.
- Assist with the management of the Aireon 3.0 requirements baseline.
- Attend technical interchange meetings to discuss technical challenges with stakeholders.
- Support trade studies being performed by the Aireon 3.0 Systems Engineering team.
- Experience preparing for and conducting a critical design review for a complex system.
- Managing system requirements and traceability between different hierarchies of a requirements baseline as well as traceability between requirements and test cases.
- Technical decision making through stakeholder needs analysis and trade studies.
Experience & Education Requirements / EEO
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's or graduate degree program at an accredited academic institution.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
- Candidates for the internship should be pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in systems engineering (or a closely related field) with a planned graduation date of winter 2025 or spring 2026.
- Ability to work as part of a technical team tasked with developing a software system.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and technical writing ability.
- Good communication skills.

About The Team
- The intern will be assigned to the Aireon 3.0 project and work alongside a team of approximately six fellow systems engineers. Weekly tag up meetings are held on Teams to review progress on tasks tracked in Jira. Most of the team is hybrid and come into the office 2-3 days/week while some members of the team are fully remote.
