Job Responsibilities:
* Leadership & Management: Manage a team of welders, cutters, and assemblers, providing guidance and support in their daily tasks.
* Operational Efficiency: Oversee production processes to ensure they meet productivity targets while maintaining high-quality standards. Implement strategies to improve efficiency, such as optimizing equipment utilization or reducing waste.
* Quality Control: Establish procedures to monitor the quality of raw materials, finished products, and workmanship. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement.
* Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline manufacturing processes through automation, tooling upgrades, or other means. Collaborate with engineering teams to implement these changes.
* Cost Reduction: Analyze production costs and identify opportunities to minimize expenses without compromising quality. Develop strategies to reduce material costs, labor costs, or overhead expenses.
* Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations (such as OSHA) and environmental standards (EPA). Maintain records related to training, certification, and safety incidents.
* Customer Service: Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, addressing concerns and expectations promptly. Communicate regularly with project managers regarding project status, schedules, and budgets.
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Welding, Metallurgy, or a related field. A diploma or equivalent experience may be considered.
* Experience: Proven experience in management within a fabrication environment, ideally in a supervisory role. Familiarity with advanced fabrication techniques and equipment is essential.
* Technical Skills: Proficient knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, Arc), cutting methods (flame, plasma, waterjet), and metalworking practices. Strong understanding of metallurgical principles and properties of various metals.
* Business Acumen: Solid grasp of business management principles, including financial planning, resource allocation, and personnel management.
* Industry Knowledge: Broad awareness of industry trends, regulatory updates, and emerging technologies in advanced fabrication.
* Soft Skills: Effective communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
* Certifications: Relevant certifications in welding processes (e.g., AWS D1.1), safety protocols (OSHA 1910.252), or quality management systems (ISO 9001) are advantageous but not required.The role involves overseeing operations, managing staff, ensuring quality standards are met, and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
