What are the responsibilities and job description for the Designer, Electrical position at Airstream?
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. All associates of Airstream are required to know and adhere to the policies and procedures which pertain to his/her position.
- Leads in the design, layout, and implementation of 12 Volt DC, 110 Volt AC, Battery electrical systems, and a/v systems enhancements using AutoCAD electrical/mechanical, inventor software systems from minor changes to new design concepts
- Perform a variety of system configurations using software for multiplexing and system integration, including functionality and reliability testing for the design
- Understand and Apply code from NEC and RVIA into a new and existing design
- Investigates and contribute to root-cause analysis, identifying and isolating problems to ensure high-quality releases to production
- Provide general knowledge of CAN, NEMA2K, Networking, and other communications protocols
- Apply installation requirement specifications to the development of the system
- Support implementation and enhancements into software, firmware, and hardware design through the manufacturing process
- Train production line associates on electrical design as needed
- Prepares test result reports
- Interact with Production associates, vendors, dealers, owners, customer service representatives, code inspectors, senior staff, and line supervisors
Background and/or Experience:
- Ability to work with great attention to detail
- RV systems knowledge - HVAC, electronic, high, and low voltage devices
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Previous software experience preferred
- Previous electrical testing or installation experience preferred
- Experience with Harness Design
Education
- Electrical Engineering, Bachelors or Associates degree from an accredited technical school or the equivalent of 5 plus years of work experience.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to understand system and device operational purpose(s) to design the best experience for the customer
- Knowledge to utilize high and low-voltage electrical and electronic testing equipment
- A “problem solver” mindset to ask questions and seek answers
- Ability to assist and communicate with software programmers/coders
- Ability to generate detailed test reports.
- A focus on the delivery of documentation within time constraints
Physical Demands and Work Environment: Office environment upstairs level of the main plant. Will be required to work on the production floor and outside occasionally. USE OF Electrical hand tools, multimeter, printers, diagnostic tools, AC/DC power supplies, misc. office equipment
