In this critical role, you will influence product design decisions by providing reliable energy and economic analysis alongside deep thermal insights. You will work collaboratively across teams, directly contributing to advanced thermal solutions. You will participate in design reviews and technology investigations, ensuring seamless interaction between product design and application engineering teams.
We are looking for someone with genuine curiosity and a strong sense of design ownership, able to deeply understand design decisions and drive optimal solutions balancing thermal performance, economic value, and customer needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Drive TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) optimization, focusing on customer-specific concerns and operational pain points.
- Develop and enhance custom simulation tools for various application scenarios.
- Deliver comprehensive thermal and economic reports, including recommendations and technical requirements for product development teams.
- Define, specify, and optimize thermal control parameters for efficient performance under variable conditions.
- Perform system-level thermal and economic analysis, translating insights into executive-level presentations.
- Clearly communicate project status, analysis findings, and results to cross-functional teams and senior management.
- Demonstrate ownership and accountability for thermal solution performance and reliability.
Technical Expertise Required:
- Deep expertise in conduction, convection, and radiation heat transfer processes.
- Numerical modeling techniques and computational thermal analysis concepts.
- Fundamental thermal design principles, including TIMs, heat sink design, airflow optimization, and system-level heat dissipation.
- Strong modeling skills, capturing complex geometries in thermal simulations.
- Proficiency with thermal simulation software (CFD, FEA) and custom code development using MATLAB, Python, Excel, or similar tools.
- Proven track record of applying simulation results to inform and optimize product design.
- Academic writing and documentation capabilities, presenting technical metrics and analysis results supporting economic goals.
- Mechanical Engineering degree, focus on Heat Transfer, Fluid Dynamics, or closely related fields preferred.
Qualifications and Additional Requirements:
- Genuine curiosity about emerging thermal technologies and evolving system-level requirements.
- Strong analytical mindset integrating thermal and economic analysis for design trade-offs.
- Able to work effectively in cross-functional teams, bridging thermal design, product development, and customer-facing applications engineering.
