POSITION DESCRIPTION – MPA Sensor Operator/Technician
Job Title: MPA Sensor Operator/Technician
Reports to: MPA Program Manager
Classification: Exempt
Time Commitment: Daily Rate-Rotational
Position Summary
The Sensor Operators/Technician supports airborne radar and EO/IR missions. Responsible for ensuring the appropriate sensor is operated per mission requirements. Sensor Operators must be able to operate independently in missions worldwide and must contribute as a team member to maintain the sensors to meet high aircraft availability rates 365 days per year. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, operation and servicing of radars and associated avionics related to the onboard mission equipment ensuring the equipment meets mandated requirements and specifications. Responsibilities will include interfacing with customer representatives regarding system testing and operations. Candidates will work OCONUS with a rotating schedule of 30 days on 30 days off.
Essential Functions
- Support daily mission operations.
- Operational testing and mission operation of the search radar, EO/IR system, ground station, and other hardware, as well as associated onboard mission avionics and communications equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mission equipment issues that may arise during mission operation.
- Contribute to the successful program execution and customer support.
- Maintain necessary certifications, licenses and permits as required for assigned work.
- Work as an effective flight crewmember.
Skills Required
- Working knowledge of maritime search radars and EO systems.
- Working knowledge of applicable FAA standards.
- Attention to detail and ability to complete required reports on a timely basis.
- Ability to work in a collegial manner with Company employees, vendors, and customers.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Skills Preferred
- Operational experience with X band radars, LIDARS, hyper-spectral imaging sensors, and ELINT collection systems.
- Functional knowledge of image post processing techniques.
- Ability to speak Spanish.
Minimum Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship.
- Ability to secure a Secret level security clearance and complete pre-deployment training in accordance with U.S. government standards.
- Five years of airborne sensor operations including maritime search radars and EO systems.
- Possess and maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits as required for assigned work.
Travel
- Travel and rotational deployment throughout the United States and locations outside of the United States, including austere locations, is required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a variety of physical conditions, including austere conditions.
- Ability to wear respirators or other required safety equipment.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
