JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Aerospace Quality Inspector to join our growing team. The Quality Inspector is primarily responsible for the inspection of products through various stages of manufacturing, including final inspection. This includes interaction and support of other departments, processes, and related quality activities. The ideal candidate must have previous Aerospace experience, be exceptionally detail oriented, possess excellent problem-solving skills, and demonstrate the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Essential Duties:
Individual job duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Reports to the Quality Department team leader and supports manufacturing activities.
- Works to established priorities and schedules.
- Ensures product compliance to all customers’ requirements.
- Performs inspection activities of detail products.
- Inspects product features per drawings, specs, mylars, sketches, and tools.
- Uses various measuring hand tools such as micrometers, calipers, scales, protractors, and other various gages.
- Performs hardness and conductivity inspection of products.
- Creates AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports to customer requirements.
- Uses computer to create reports, review documents, and complete forms.
- Reviews in-house documents to customer drawing and spec requirements.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to understand quality standard requirements.
- Periodically inspects assembled mechanical systems to ensure functionality, safety, and compliance to ensure quality standards are a top priority.
- Proactively notify team lead or supervisor to ensure necessary supplies are readily available.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Three years of experience in aerospace quality control or work experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing shop practices.
- Ability to interpret customer drawings and specifications for detail aerospace products and basic dimensioning and tolerance concepts including GD&T.
- Proficiency generating first article reports per AS9102.
- Attention to detail oriented and exceptional organizational skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate and interface with peers, employees, and management.
- Proficiency with computers with a demonstrated ability using necessary software programs such as MS Word, Excel, as well as other common programs.
- Expertise using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, scales, protractors, etc.
- Ability to stay focused in a high-paced environment and ensure product compliance to all customer requirements.
- Knowledge of safety requirements in a manufacturing environment.
- CAD CAM, CNC Programming, DPD, MBD, and/or CMM experience is a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of Mechanical Systems
- Experience with basic hand tools, hand-held power tools, and measuring instruments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly motivated and detail oriented with the ability to work independently
- Ability to concentrate and multi-task
- This is an onsite position that does not allow for remote work opportunities
Preferred Qualifications:
- CAD CAM, CNC Programming, DPD, MBD, and/or CMM experience is a plus.
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and lifting of moderate to heavy weight material up to 50 lbs. with assistance of a team member or appropriate equipment
- Ability to use hands and arms with full range of motion
- Vision requirements to include close-proximity, distance, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus as necessary
Individual Safety Responsibilities:
Raise awareness of unsafe working conditions or practices. Increase communications to all levels of management concerning safety and safe practices. Improve awareness of accident prevention. Provide continuous cooperation across all managerial and departmental boundaries, relative to safe working conditions, procedures and accident prevention.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
