Basic Function
This position will focus on selling in the Sanitation, Decay, Train and Municipal sewer markets. The role will support product lines and growth strategy within the U.S. market. The primary function of our Technical Sales Representative is driving sales growth, managing key customer relationships, and achieving the revenue targets. This role involves strategic planning, market analysis, and customer relationship management. They allocate approximately 60% of their time to travel, 30% to market research, and 10% to professional development.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops and implements strategic sales plans for North America to achieve business objectives.
- Proactively develops new business opportunities, fostering strong, long-term relationships with existing and potential clients throughout and after the sales cycle.
- Prepares and presents vacuum technology product(s) to customers and at events such as conferences, seminars, webinars, etc.
- Responds to technical inquiries from consulting engineers and industry and regulatory personnel.
- Maintains regular contact with sanitation engineers, industrial wastewater specialists, train infrastructure consultants, city and county sanitary engineers, municipal contractors, and regulatory agency personnel to promote vacuum technology solutions and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Attends industry trade shows and generally assists in the promotion of vacuum technology solutions.
- Makes sales calls (in person, via phone or email, via webinar) to promote company products.
- Solicits budget estimate requests (preliminary layout and cost estimate) to prospective customers.
- Works closely with Manufacturer’s Reps as a partner and supporter to achieve growth through sales calls, presentations, webinars, tradeshows, etc.
- Works closely with Project Engineering to ensure a smooth transition from the sales phase to the design phase.
- Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system and quality
objectives.
- Performs various other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, or Engineering.
- Experience in wastewater systems, municipal engineering consultancy or closely related field preferred.
- 5 years’ experience in business development, marketing, or business-to-business sales.
- Self-motivated with a proven track record in sales.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with willingness to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to effectively write and/or present information professionally, and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and the general public.
- Ability to work as a team in a collaborative environment as well as individually.
- Software proficiency to include Windows and Microsoft Office.
- Experience in using a CRM tool (e.g. Salesforce) preferred.
