ROLE DESCRIPTION:
We have an immediate, urgent need for a Contract Sr. Technical Writer who must physically reside in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA., and who must be able to travel to our office in Santa Clara as needed. The Sr. Technical Writer will work with Product Management, Engineers, SMEs to develop high-quality technical documentation for a new-indoor, wireless products which include user manuals, configuration guides, hardware installation guides, command line interface (CLI) guides, quick installation guides, and as needed, other technical information.
The optimal candidate will have written end-user technical documentation for WiFi Access Points, Fixed/Mobile Wireless Access Equipment, Layer 2/3 Networking Switches/Routers or testers, etc... We are optimally, looking for someone who has “been there, done that” and can hit the ground running.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create impactful end-user technical documentation (user manuals, configuration guides, quick start guides) describing how to install, configure, use, and manage Airvine’s innovative indoor wireless networking switch products.
- Review and/or copyedit existing engineer-developed content while determining the clearest and most logical and concise way to present it for the greatest end-user comprehension.
- Establish an Airvine document format and templates employing good internal documentation practices and standards.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- 5 years of experience writing technical documentation in a professional setting for technical audiences.
- Working/domain knowledge and experience writing technical documents with the following:
o Wireless Networking Products (ex. WiFi, 5G/LTE, wireless transport solutions)
o Network switching/routing/testing products & Layer 2 networking concepts
o Experience documenting complex hardware products containing strong software content.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technical Writing, Journalism, or a related field
- Must have a laptop and editing software tools (MS Word, Graphics, etc...).
- Ability to be “hands-on” with the product and can write and document “by-using” the product.
- Resourceful self-starter who is resourceful, with the ability to write about complex topics, perhaps with minimal or vague guidance or instruction.
- Experience creating, managing, and maintaining technical diagrams and graphics.
- Experience taking product photographs and integrating photos/images into user documentation.
- MS Word is required but experience with other publishing tools, web/html is a plus
- Experience translating documents into other languages (i.e. Spanish, AI tools, etc) is a plus.
